This was a time sensitive project with a quick turnaround that had no existing fixed supply chain currently in operation. The blu-3 team managed to successfully set up operations and complete the project on time and to a very high standard. The client was delighted.

Project Challenges & Solutions:
- International project with no fixed supply chain
- Remote location for construction skills and resources
- No concrete pump available for floor slab pour so a dumper had to be used – long pour, awkward and slow – and completed in sections
- M&E equipment lead-times meant construction sequencing challenges
- Logistics for install of the switchgear panel were arduous due to tunnel length and environment – only 50mm play in a window used with a portable telehandler
- Windows and ceiling tiles completed in the last week in conjunction with M&E so that openings were sufficient for equipment installation
Scope:
blu-3 was principal contractor for the first phase development of an international data centre providing 10 x 42U data cabinets up to a max. 14kW per cab requirement at the Marsa power station, housed in the power stations underground tunnels, which provide stable structures with ideal low temperatures year round.
Design and Build for a conceptual small KW Data Centre in an existing WWII Tunnel & Cave system, with a 75M service tunnel, including –
- Civil engineering
- Building superstructure & finishes
- Mechanical & Electrical services
