Project Challenges & Solutions:

  • International project with no fixed supply chainĀ
  • Remote location for construction skills and resourcesĀ
  • No concrete pump available for floor slab pourĀ so a dumper had to be used ā€“ long pour, awkward Ā and slow ā€“ and completed in sectionsĀ
  • M&E equipment lead-times meant constructionĀ sequencing challengesĀ
  • Logistics for install of the switchgear panel were arduousĀ due to tunnel length and environment ā€“ only 50mm play in a window used with a portable telehandlerĀ
  • Windows and ceiling tiles completed in the last weekĀ in conjunction with M&E so that openings were sufficientĀ for equipment installationĀ

Scope:

blu-3 was principal contractor for the firstĀ phase development of an international dataĀ centre providing 10 x 42U data cabinets upĀ to a max. 14kW per cab requirement at theĀ Marsa power station, housed in the power Ā stations underground tunnels, which provideĀ stable structures with ideal low temperaturesĀ year round.Ā

Design and Build for a conceptual small KW Data Ā Centre in an existing WWII Tunnel & Cave system,Ā with a 75M service tunnel, including –Ā

  • Civil engineeringĀ
  • Building superstructure & finishesĀ
  • Mechanical & Electrical servicesĀ
