SUPPLY CHAIN SUSTAINABILITY ACHIEVEMENT FOR BLU-3
Specialist infrastructure provider, blu-3, has announced it has achieved silver level accreditation from the Supply Chain Sustainability School (‘SCSS’) for supporting and advancing meaningful sustainability gains across a number of departments.
An award-winning industry collaboration, SCSS is led by partners and members that strive to generate a world class sustainably-built environment. The initiative encourages companies to implement new practices and processes to conduct more eco-friendly business operations across supply chains.
Head of International Procurement at blu-3, Alan Withers, said: “This accreditation is something we are extremely proud of and, and it’s a great reward for the hard work of our procurement team. Our SCSS accreditation is a shining example of how we are investing in sustainable practices and committing to our targets of continuous improvement.”
The accreditation achieved by blu-3 enables the company to utilise SCSS platforms that promote collaborative sustainability networking and enhance strategic learning capabilities.
Alan added: “Sustainability and procurement operations go hand in hand but beyond that, an eco-friendly mindset can extend across all of our departments, therefore this accreditation and membership will aid not just our procurement function, but other parts of the business too. This is a key initial step in us taking the wider company forward.”
Through its assessment by SCSS, blu-3 was judged on its demonstrable understanding of:
- Modern slavery
- Environmental & sustainability issues
- Building Information Modelling (BIM)
- Off-site production
After achieving silver level success, the next step for blu-3 is to advance to gold standard as it progresses into 2020. This will ensure the continued improvement of procurement and supply chain initiatives and ultimately improve the overall sustainability of the business.
